Whether you're not sure how to retain people in a changing economy, or you're having trouble influencing others in the organization, there are a lot of challenges to being a manager. Maybe your group is now a composite of other groups after a reorganization, and not everyone wants to work together. Or maybe your budget to create an infrastructure is zero, and you're trying to figure out how to do more with less.

All of these problems have solutions, but you may not see how to get the leverage you need to employ them.

In this workshop, we'll use group activities and experiential learning to find approaches to problem solving that work for your personality. We’ll also help to identify your management strengths and weaknesses.

Exercises will be done both individually and in groups to increase your effectiveness when it comes to:

• Managing upward
• Influencing across the organization
• Hiring and retaining staff
• Managing the project portfolio

Who Should Attend
Functional managers or leaders with responsibility for people management who want a chance to review/refresh skills away from the pressures of their jobs. While the focus is on functional management within an organization, much of the content will benefit project managers as well.

Benefits
• Gain an understanding of your management style
• Learn where you have and have not been effective in your job
• Discover ways you could change in order to be more effective
