Risk-Based Testing for Software Managers
In the best of circumstances, it is impossible to comprehensively test a software product. When you add competitive schedules and tight budgets, software managers are faced with the daunting task of trying to decide what and how much to test. Often the software manager’s pleas for more time and/or resources fall on deaf ears, because the software manager cannot adequately measure the effectiveness of the testing effort. While there are no easy answers to these problems, there are strategies that managers can use to address these issues. In this short session, Rick Craig will introduce a few of the principles of modern testing including the importance of using risk analysis to prioritize tests and to formulate contingency plans. He will also demonstrate how to improve on normal requirements-based coverage models and explain a couple of useful metrics to measure test effectiveness.
